Sustainability Commitment
Sustainability is a direction, not a destination. At Ritex, we're not claiming to have it all figured out, but we are taking deliberate steps to reduce our impact, and we're making it easier for our clients to do the same. Since 1986, we've built our business on long-term relationships and responsible supply. That same thinking drives our approach to sustainability: practical, measurable, and built to last.
Instep Silver Accredited
Within two years of joining the Instep programme, Ritex achieved Silver accreditation. This covers our business operations — how we measure, manage, and work to reduce our carbon emissions. Instep is a New Zealand sustainability programme aligned with international standards and the GHG Protocol. Accreditation isn't self-assessed — it's based on verified emissions data and a documented action plan. We're continuing to work through the programme with the goal of ongoing improvement.

Sustainable Product Sourcing
As a procurement partner, we source across a wide range of textile and packaging products. When clients need a more sustainable option — whether that's a product made from recycled plastics, a lower-impact material, or a natural fibre alternative — we'll find it. We already stock jute and hessian products, both natural fibres that are biodegradable and require minimal processing. For other sustainable alternatives, we work directly with our supplier network to source products that meet each client's operational and environmental requirements. We stay in close contact with our overseas suppliers to keep across the latest developments in sustainable materials — so when better options become available, we can bring them to our clients.

Plastics and Product Recycling
Many of the products we supply — bags, packaging, protective films — are made from plastics that can't go into kerbside recycling. Ritex can assist customers in exploring end-of-life recycling and recovery options through our network of industry contacts and recycling partners. If you're looking to reduce the waste footprint of your operation, get in touch and we can talk through how it works.
We're not here to overstate what we've done. Ritex is a business in progress — measuring our impact, improving our operations, and helping clients source more responsibly where we can. If sustainability is a consideration in your procurement decisions, we're worth talking to.
